Short vertical video is where players find indie games
YouTube Shorts, TikTok and Instagram Reels show games to people who were not looking for them, and many indie hits got their first wave of wishlists from a single clip. What works is simple: a strong moment from the game, a line of text that makes people stay for the first three seconds, and a clear ask at the end. This tool turns a raw gameplay recording into exactly that without opening a video editor.
How to make a clip that holds attention
Start on the action. Trim so the first frame already moves. Hook in three seconds. Write the hook as a promise or a challenge: "POV: you finally beat the boss", "I made this game alone in 6 months", "Only 1% find this secret". Fill the screen. A landscape game looks small on a phone. Blurred fill keeps the whole picture, Crop to fill uses the whole screen, and zoom brings the action closer. Keep it short. 10 to 25 seconds loops better and gets watched to the end, which is what the feeds reward. Ask clearly. End on your game's name and one action, such as Wishlist on Steam or Download free.
App button zones
Shorts, TikTok and Reels cover parts of the video with their own buttons: the right edge, the bottom with the caption and the very top. Turn on Show app button zones to see them, and keep your hook text and logo out of the red areas.
Export
The MP4 uses H.264 video and AAC audio at 30 frames per second, the format every platform accepts. Speeding the clip up also raises the pitch of the game audio, which usually sounds fine for gameplay. Export works in current Chrome, Edge and Safari. Firefox can preview but may not export.
Is my video uploaded?
No. Decoding, rendering and encoding all happen in your browser. Your footage never leaves your device.
