Pixel Building Generator

Make pixel art buildings for a 2D game from a type and a seed. Houses, shops, taverns, towers, castle keeps, apartments, barns and office towers come with floors, windows, a door and a roof that fit, in brick, stone, wood, timber frame, plaster or glass. Tweak the size, roof and colours, add a chimney, awning, sign, vines, snow or night lights, and download a transparent PNG at 16 pixels per window. Pro adds day and night pairs and street packs of twelve matching buildings.

A street of buildings with the same type and look but other seeds, so you can see how a town made from these settings would feel.

What this makes

A pixel art building for a side-view or front-view game, drawn from rules instead of by hand. Pick a type such as a house, shop, tavern, tower, castle keep, apartment block, barn or office tower and the generator lays out floors, windows, a door and a roof that fit it. Change the seed for a new building of the same type, or set the width, floors, roof, wall material and colours yourself. Every pixel is drawn at 16 pixels per window, so the buildings sit next to 16 and 32 pixel characters without rescaling.

Materials and details

Walls come in brick, stone blocks, wooden planks, timber frame, plaster, glass curtain wall and metal panels. Roofs can be gable, hip, mansard, flat with a parapet, castle battlements or a tower spire. Turn on a chimney, shutters, a shop awning, a hanging sign, climbing vines, snow on the roof or lit windows for a night scene.

Same building in 2D, isometric and 3D

This tool shares its building rules with the Isometric Building Generator and the 3D Building Generator. Use the same type and seed in each and you get the same building, so a town can have a side view, a map view and a 3D version that match.

Using it in a game

Download at 1× for the real pixel size and let your engine scale it with nearest filtering, or at 2× or 4× for engines that do not. The bottom of the PNG is the ground line. With Pro, a street pack gives you twelve buildings in the same look as single PNGs, one sprite sheet and a JSON file with each building's size and door position.

Can I use them commercially?

Yes. The buildings you make are yours to use in free and commercial games.
